I'm sure that seems a very strange title for a blog post from Rainbow Jane! I'm still so missing having the Rainbow Jane sessions, but work has kept me very busy over the last few months of lock down. I'm sure that most of you know that I work for 3P Learning - an online education company. One of the products that I work with, Reading Eggs, has just launched a fantastic new programme called Fast Phonics! It is so good it makes me wish I was going back into a class in September and getting the chance to teach phonics again! Fast Phonics features a yeti as the main character, and he has some friends, called the furballs. They're so great that they have sparked my creativity and I have been busy creating them!

I've now also printed out the Sound Mat for Phase 2 and have attached a card to the back of each furball, with velco!

I really enjoyed reading the article on your site it’s clear how much thought went into connecting everyday classroom fun (like using pompoms) with early literacy skills and phonics. It made me think about how even small, tactile activities can light up a child’s learning journey. As someone juggling a busy academic life, I’ve had moments where I wish someone could take my PhD exam for me, but reading pieces that celebrate genuine, hands-on education reminds me of why the effort is worth it.
