šWhat Crafts Does Rainbow Jane Offer?
Rainbow Jane has always loved art and craft ā funding her way through university by making jewellery and running a bead and childrenās craft materials shop, before going on to become a primary school teacher.
Now, Rainbow Jane hosts regular creative sessions in her art shed, covering a wide and colourful range of crafts. Bespoke sessions can also be arranged for small groups, either in the art shed or at your own location.
All sessions include:
ā Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits
šØ All materials, inspiration and guidance
š PAYF (Pay As You Feel) to cover costs and keep Rainbow Jane sustainable
š Any additional funds are donated to Zarach and Alzheimerās charities
Hereās a flavour of the sessions currently availableā¦
š Jewellery Making
Having run a bead shop for many years, Rainbow Jane has a huge collection of beads and runs sessions creating beaded jewellery, hangings and the popular crystal snowflakes (especially at Christmas).Due to the small components involved, these sessions are best suited to older children and adults, and work best in the art shed.
š¼ Decoupage
A Rainbow Jane favourite ā because you can decorate almost anything! With a large selection of decoupage papers and napkins (plus items to decorate, or you can bring your own), this craft always produces pleasing results and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
š§“ Glass Painting
Using specialist glass paints which bond permanently in a domestic oven, empty bottles are transformed into beautiful lamps.Corks with LED light strings are included.Rainbow Jane also provides glasses, jars and vases, or youāre welcome to bring your own glass item to paint.
š¦ Metal Magic
Using recycled drinks cans, alcohol inks, Sharpies and Posca pens, cans are prepared into sheets before the session and hand or die-cut into fish, butterflies, flowers or abstract designs. They are embossed and decorated to create hangings, ornamental stakes or brooches.Due to the materials used, this session is not suitable for young children.
š Modular Origami
If you fancy something less messy but equally mindful, modular origami is a wonderful option. Learn to fold a simple Sonobe unit and build them into a range of geometric shapes which can be hung or displayed.
šø Kusudama Flowers & Balls
Similar to modular origami, but using a different base unit to create flowers, which can then be joined together into a Kusudama ball. Both origami and Kusudama sessions suit older children and adults, as the folds need to be neat and precise. They also work beautifully as group activities where everyone makes units and then collaborates on a larger piece.
š§µ Felt, Beads & Sequins
With a wide range of coloured felts, beads and sequins, you can choose from suggested ideas or bring your own. Shapes include bears, flowers, hearts, stars and trees ā decorated, hand sewn and stuffed to make small decorations or brooches.
š Needle Felting
Items can also be needle felted to add texture and colour, creating either felted pictures or stuffed decorations.(Not suitable for small children due to sharp needles.)
šŗ Crepe Paper Flower Making
Using specialist crepe paper, petals are cut, shaded and shaped, then assembled with hot glue guns into beautiful flowers that will last forever.
š Shell & Sea Glass Hangings
Collected from beach walks, shells, sea glass and pebbles are turned into stunning hangings using thread, wire and driftwood.A perfect session if youāve gathered your own shells and want to make them into something special.
š§¶ Loom Knitting
A very easy and mindful way to create scarves and hats using chunky yarn (or several strands together).A 2-hour session will get you started, and Rainbow Jane is happy to loan the loom and tool so you can continue at home. For a full scarf or hat, book two sessions and enjoy four hours of crafting.
š§µ Crochet / Knit Natter
Rainbow Jane doesnāt run taught crochet sessions (being left-handed and self-taught, with a love of free-form crochet), but happily hosts friendly natter sessions where you bring your own work, share ideas and enjoy refreshments. š Family Story and Art
These are monthly sessions for families. Each month we focus on a different artist and start with a story about the artist and a chat about the artists life, and a look at some of the art work they created.
Then in the shed, children, with their adult to support and encourage them, create their own art work inspired by the artist. These sessions are also available as bespoke sessions, focused on the child / families favourite artist.
Seasonal & Bespoke Sessions
Alongside regular crafts, Rainbow Jane also offers: š Seasonal sessions (pumpkin carving, wreath making etc) š¦ Themed childrenās parties (unicorns, dinosaurs and more) š§ Well-being and creative sessions for adults or businesses
š¤ Collaborative group projects designed to be mindful and uplifting
Rainbow Jane has a huge range of watercolours, pencils, acrylics, glitter and metallic paints, Sharpies, Posca pens, beads, threads and sequins ā so there really are no limits to what we can create together.
Whether you want a calm mindful session, a messy creative afternoon, or a themed celebration, Rainbow Jane can help you make something special. š
