šŗ Family Art Session: Inspired by Frida Kahlo šŗ
I'm busy getting ready for some very special Rainbow Jane family art sessions, taking place this Sunday, February 8th at 11.00am (3 spaces) and 1pm (full) and 3pm (just released, so 8 spaces available) ā inspired by the wonderful life and art of Frida KahloĀ and her love of animals, colour and nature.

Weāll begin by reading the gorgeous book Frida Kahlo and Her Animalitos, which celebrates Fridaās life and introduces her animal companions. From there, weāll talk together about:
⨠how Frida painted the things she loved
⨠how she used bright colours and symbols
⨠and how she showed great resilience through difficult times
This storytelling time sets the scene for children (and grown-ups!) to create their own Frida-inspired artwork.
šØ What will we create?
Children can choose how they want to work:
⢠draw their own face
⢠draw someone they love
⢠or have a photo taken which will be turned into a black & white sketch and printed, ready to use
Their portrait can then be cut out and added into their artwork, just like Frida did in her paintings.
Around their portrait, children will create a world of:
šø flowers and plants
š¦ animals
and anything else that means a lot to them, toys, sports, places.
Theyāll be able to use:
ā watercolour paints
ā acrylic paints
ā metallic and glitter paints
ā tissue papers
ā magazines for collage (animals, flowers and textures)
The session is all about creativity, colour, imagination and having fun together.
š©āš§ Create Together
This is a family session, where children create alongside their adult. Itās relaxed, supportive and designed so that everyone can enjoy making something special together.
Thereās time to:⢠explore materials⢠make choices⢠experiment with colour and collage⢠and, most importantly, feel proud of what theyāve created.
āšŖ Additional information
The session is:
ā limited to small numbers - you need to book spaces for the adult and child / children
ā Pay As You Feel
ā squash and biscuits for children
ā tea and coffee for adults
ā Avoid wearing your best clothes. While there are painting overalls available for children, it's preferable for them to feel at ease and not be concerned about a stray splash of paint.
š A little bit of Frida magicā¦
Frida once said she painted her own reality ā and thatās exactly what weāll be doing too.
Each childās artwork will be unique, personal and full of colour, animals and imagination.
I canāt wait to share Fridaās story and create alongside you. ššØšŗ
